County Recorder’s Office News
|
The
Lucas Co. Recorder’s office has military records
going back to the Civil War for those who filed a copy
of their discharge papers with the county. All residents
who are veterans should file a copy of their DD-214 discharge
papers with the Recorder's Office so that when a veteran
dies, the appropriate government response will be received
by the surviving family (for example, an American flag
is given to the family, among other things). Those who
cannot find their DD-214 papers may obtain copies from
National Military Personnel Records Center
(https://www.archives.gov/personnel-records-center).
There is typically a 30-day response time. If a copy
has been filed with the Lucas Co. Recorder's office,
you may request a certified copy through your township
Trustees at no cost.
In addition, the Lucas Co. Recorder’s office has all deeds,
releases, and mortgages from 1985 to the present available online.
If you need
a copy of one of these documents, a fee is charged per page at the
Recorder's office. However, if the request is funneled through your
township Trustees, the copies will be provided at no cost.
Request
forms for each of these types of documents - military
discharge and deed request - are available here in ".pdf" format.
Once you download and print the appropriate form, please
fill it out completely and give it to your township
Trustee.
