Zoning Minutes 2-12-2007

SWANTON TOWNSHIP ZONING REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 12, 2007

MEMBERS PRESENT:	Ed Snyder, Sandy Komisarek, Dave Smithers, Becky Ziviski - Alternate

MEMBERS ABSENT:	Ron Grant, Joe Zielinski

VISITORS PRESENT:	Jim Irmen, Swanton Township Trustee

The meeting was opened by Chairperson Ed Snyder at 7:00 P.M. A motion was made by Dave Smithers to waive reading of the minutes from the regular Swanton Township Zoning meeting of January 15, 2007 and approve as presented; seconded by Sandy Komisarek. The vote was: Ed Snyder - Yes, Sandy Komisarek - Yes, Dave Smithers - Yes, Becky Ziviski - Yes. Motion carried.

Old Business: Ed Snyder said he talked to Molly Maguire regarding the Land Use Plan for U.S. Alternate 20 and Molly indicated that it was almost complete. She said it would be to the Zoning Board by the March 2007 meeting.
Sandy Komisarek brought in sample copies of other townships’ Zoning Resolutions to show members. She indicated she would like to see more defined verbage in Swanton Township’s Resolution. Sandy Komisarek and Becky Ziviski will work on clarifying the language.
Ed Snyder said the Zoning Inspector had spoken to him about a house on St. Rt 64 that has a collection of large metal containers/structures on his property. Although the current zoning allows storage containers/structures, it does not address this issue. Gary Heinemann suggested that the zoning resolution might need to address this. Ed Snyder will talk to Dave Simko and report back to this board. ODNR is currently monitoring the enviro soil at the quarry.

New Business: Ed Snyder mentioned a new type of lighting that creates less light pollution. He will look into this. Jim Irmen asked the members if they might be interested in attending a presentation on zoning basics along with several other townships.

Motion was made by Dave Smithers to adjourn the meeting at 7:38 P.M., seconded by Sandy Komisarek. The vote was: Ed Snyder - Yes, Sandy Komisarek - Yes, Dave Smithers - Yes, Becky Ziviski - Yes. Motion carried.
