VISITORS PRESENT:
8 people signed: Chet Sadowski, Mike Uhl, Al Mackey, RyanMackey, Elizabeth Kantner, Richard Giddens, Jim Nowak, Gary Heinemann

The hearing was opened by Chairperson Sandy Komisarek at 7:15 P.M. The secretary read a letter from Molly Maguire, Lucas County Planner, dated April 5, 2006, informing the Zoning Commission that the Lucas County Planning Commission was not willing to act on the proposed zoning change until the zoning commission had had an opportunity to discuss Al Mackey’s concerns over the proposed change. There was a concern that the Zoning Commission had not taken into consideration the fact that Al Mackey, who currently owns 8 acres of land on the south side of 20A, would like to build on that property and continue the same zoning as Air Ride, Inc., on the north side of 20A. The new business, “Truck Driver‘s Lease Property“ owned and operated by Al Mackey Enterprises would be placed at an undo economic burden with the proposed zoning change. Mr. Mackey currently leases trucks and cars to his employees at Air Ride, Inc. as well as to the general public. Air Ride representatives were present at the meeting and expressed their concerns over the proposed zoning change.

A resident, who resides on Monclova Road, expressed a concern over the noise and the possibility of water contamination that might affect her horse farm. Discussion was had regarding this concern. Mr. Richard Giddens, owner and operator of Oak Park, said he believes the land should be used for what is best for it, which is light industrial/commercial, in his opinion. He also asked the Zoning Board what they are looking for. His concern was that all that was discussed was what is not wanted on the property but he wants to know what the commission finds acceptable.

Sandy Komisarek was opposed to the request of Air Ride and insisted that the Public Hearing be continued until May 22, 2006, when the next Zoning Meeting is to be held, to have the entire Zoning Commission present for further discussion. Motion was made by Ed Snyder to continue the Public Hearing until May 22, 2006, seconded by Sandy Komisarek. The vote was: Sandy Komisarek - Yes, Ed Snyder - Yes, Dave Smithers - Yes. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Ed Snyder to close the Public Hearing and reopen the regular meeting at 8:09 P.M., seconded by Dave Smithers. The vote was: Sandy Komisarek - Yes, Ed Snyder - Yes, Dave Smithers - Yes. Motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,

Sue Smithers, Zoning Secretary
